The Oxford Research Agency

Budget Consultation

In line with the Government White Paper Communities in Control: real people, real power, The Oxford Research Agency has developed an innovative approach to participatory budgeting where members of the public help to set local priorities for spending – something the Government is hoping will be adopted in all local authority areas by 2012.

Reconvened workshops and realistic spend scenarios are used to ensure that budget allocation exercises are as informed and deliberative as possible.

Our approach also provides a greater level of granularity, with consideration given to budget allocations within individual service areas, rather than simply service areas as a whole, resulting in increased feedback for service planning.

“It was a great day. We got loads of positive feedback. It really helped us to focus on our budget priorities in a difficult economic climate”.
